You can customize tent cards for each meeting, luncheon, wedding, and more when you print your own. You don’t need to pay for pre-printed tent cards or worry about getting all those names right. If it’s a small wedding or meeting, at least you don’t have to worry about running out of print jobs. You can print as many or as few as you want for each event.

For this post we are going to use the wonderful Bob University as an example. They are holding an alumni reunion for the Class of 2002. We’ll look at steps they can take to print their own tent cards for reunions.
Open the template you just downloaded in Microsoft Word (some may have opened automatically). You’ll notice that the template already has text on it. The text is set to be used for the note card because it is a note card template. If you are planning to place text inside the tent card, you need to pay attention to how the text is placed.
In order to have text on the inside of the card, you’ll need to print on both sides of the piece of paper. To get an idea of how you’ll need to feed paper to your printer, you can go ahead and use a piece of paper to test how the default text will print.

This is where you can have some fun! You can use your business logo, colors etc. For this example, we’ll use Microsoft clip art, but you should use your own company graphics or photos.
Don’t forget that there are two sides to the tent card. You can either write the person’s name on both sides or you can put your company’s information on the front and back of the chair. The design is totally up to you!
You can easily do a mail merge to add all the names you need without having to create a card for each person. …unless you want to make your tent cards highly customizable and have a separate note card for each person.

Notice how the text (thank you) in the top right is upside down? The text in the upper right has to be reversed to print on the right side. To reverse the text, it must be in Word Art. You cannot merge Word Art. If we flip the panels around the inner text will be behind the next panel.
Okay, we know you can use text orientation to move text to one side, so let’s move the whole page around! In the next paragraph, I will explain how you can rotate the page, change the table, but the easiest way to do this is just to download a ready-made template, where it will already be rotated for you. ,
This will obviously mess up the table when you change the page layout from landscape to portrait. You will need to reset the table dimensions by highlighting all four cells and changing the height to 5.49″ and the width to 4.25″. Then right click on the table and choose Table Properties. Click “Options…” and set all cell margins to 0, uncheck the spacing between cells (if checked), automatically resize to fit content (if checked is) unchecked. If you’re having trouble getting half of your table to be on the second page, highlight the default location just below the table. Change the text size to 1. Change the line height to 0.06″.

Once you move the text to the appropriate panel, your new template will look like this:

Now it’s time to print your tent card! You should do a few test prints on regular paper to make sure your layout is correct. To check that everything lines up, place the printed sheet of paper in front of the note card paper.
