I hate to say it, especially because I know how to study. Write calligraphy once or twice, but hiring a professional calligrapher to write your wedding invitation is a waste of money. For just over $3 for an envelope, why not put away your credit card and create an envelope template (or get our free A7 envelope template!) that you can print at home. Make as many copies as you need, then repurpose the little ones to work for thank you notes, holiday cards, you name it.

While most word processing software gives you an “envelope” option, I find that it often seems awkward and basic. While it’s suitable for business printing, it’s definitely not what you need for wedding envelopes or fancy stationery.
Hopefully you’ve figured this out, but you need to know the exact dimensions of your envelope (in inches or centimeters) when you close the lid. If you can’t find that information in the package, just take out the ruler and measure.
For invitations, we recommend an A7 size envelope of 5.25″x7.25”, but this size may vary depending on the size of your invitation. If you do not know the size of the envelope you need, this useful chart can help you choose the right envelope.

Go to Page Format > Size > Other Paper Sizes. Enter your envelope size in the Width and Height fields, and then click OK.
Go to Insert > Text Box > Draw Text Box. Draw a text box in the center of your document, making sure there is plenty of room for the stamp and return address at the top.
To remove the black border around the text box, click on the text box and go to Format > Shape > No Border.

When you add your first text box, just click on the outer border to get a solid black line around the box, then press Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V to duplicate it. I like to create text boxes for each text style (eg calligraphic names have a box, while serif addresses have a separate box).
One of the reasons we don’t use the “envelope” function in Word is because it allows us to use custom fonts, images and styles.
I think envelopes look best with a combination of cursive, sans serif and serif fonts. But that depends on you. Ideally, you may want to choose 1-2 fonts that match your wedding invitations so that everything looks uniform.

In a completely new document. When it’s time to print, you print the front of the envelope first, then flip it over and print the back.
After you have your template looking the way you like it, you’ll want to duplicate the pages so that multiple pages can be printed at once.

To duplicate your page, click on the gray border outside the page. This will highlight your text box.
Inside the text box. You will see a blinking cursor in the upper left corner of the page. Press Finish on your keyboard (this will add a blank page after the existing one).
Go to Insert > Blank Page. Click about 15-20 times to add pages. (I recommend creating no more than 25 pages per document. If you create too many, it will slow down your Word document and you will have a problem where the document is distorted and distorted.)

If you are not familiar with mail merge, the simplest thing to do is copy and paste your address manually. In my experience, it only takes 20 minutes to duplicate more than 100 envelopes, which is about the same time you need to solve the mail merge problem.
If not, you can search on Google to find mail merge instructions based on your software version and operating system.
Load multiple envelopes into the printer’s paper tray. (If you have one, I use the rear input tray instead of the bottom tray. If you don’t have one, don’t panic.)

Make sure you enter a custom paper size in your print settings, otherwise, no matter what you do, it won’t print correctly. Then go back to the print preview and make sure the text is the right size, center , and no cut off.
