Disney Dream Boat
Disney Dream Boat – Today, we announced plans to complete the cruise ship formerly known as Global Dream in Wismar, Germany. The ship will be renamed and some features restored with the help of the world-renowned skills of Walt Disney Imagineers.
The new ship out of the United States will feature a Disney experience with spectacular entertainment, world-class dining and the renowned guest service that distinguishes Disney Cruise Line. The rear is decked out in traditional, Mickey Mouse-inspired flat colors, complete with signature red accents.

The 208,000,000-ton ship is expected to be the first in the shipbuilding industry to be fueled by green methanol, one of the most widely available aviation fuels. Disney Cruise Line anticipates a capacity of 6,000,000 passengers and 2,300 crew members.

Construction will be completed at the former MVWerftenshipyard in Wismar, Germany, led by Meyerwerft, the Papenburg-based company that built the Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy and Disney Wish.
More details about the girl’s journey, journey and in-flight experience will be announced later. For more information about Disney Cruise Line, visit disneycruise.com.

It goes without saying that my family is a Disney family. We go to Disney World at least every year (okay, a few times a year), and we’ve been to Disneyland and Disney’s Aulani in Hawaii. We hadn’t left though.
After 38 years of keeping our feet on the ground (or in the sky), we booked our first family trip of the year. Given how iconic and popular Disney cruises are, it’s no surprise that our first cruise was booked on the Disney Dream. One of four for Disney Cruise Line, which launched its first ship in 2011, it has 1,250 staterooms and can accommodate 4,000,000 guests and about 1,500 crew. In other words, it’s huge.
While it took some time for our family to get into the world of travel, once we committed to this trip, I was very excited about this new opportunity – as it was probably our most anticipated trip of the year. With so many expectations to live up to, will our journey be a success or will it make us run to the airport at our first port of call?

We used the Cruise Compete website to start our cruise search, as it’s an easy way to quickly compare multiple quotes with a single request. It’s not just about price and travel — it’s also about stateroom credits and other perks that can add up to hundreds of dollars. Our decisions soon came down to booking through Costco Travel or Small World Vacations. While we’ve gotten great deals (in the form of Costco gift cards) through Costco, I went with Small World Vacations this time, based solely on a friend’s recommendation.
Since the first ship was a touch claustrophobic, we booked a combination of staterooms and verandas instead of cramming into one room. Booking two staterooms increased the cost of sharing a stateroom, but only by 50%, which was worth it to us.
We made our bookings with Small World Vacations and the money was credited as a trip by Disney Cruise Line, so we could earn 3 points per dollar on the Chase Sapphire Reserve or Citi Premier Card. While I had no issues with our booking on board or the service we received en route, our stateroom credits weren’t as low as I’d hoped – just $50 per stateroom, even though our final bill for both staterooms was over $4,000. After taxes, each stateroom was less than $2,000. 000 per room from $50 to $100. The lesson we learned was that money does not count and the total bill for two rooms does not count.

In addition to the cost of the boat, there were personal gratuities of $40.50 per person on our overnight cruise. You can pay in advance and have it charged to your account while in flight.
Using points on the Disney network to keep money in your pocket is an easy way to pay with a card that uses a set number of points you can spend on travel. This includes the Capital One Venture Credit Card (currently you have 60,000,000 bonus miles after spending $3,000 within the first three months of account opening, worth $600 per trip). There are additional trips for using points when booking a cruise.
If you have a Disney Visa, you can save on your Disney cruise line with discounts on spa treatments, Castaway Cay passes, and photo booths. You can also get a promotional 0% APR for six months on the Disney Cruise Charge Card if you need a little breathing room to pay off the magic.

Our first trip began in Port Canaveral, Florida, less than an hour’s drive from Orlando International Airport (MCO). To make things easier and reduce the stress of missing the ferry due to a flight delay, we flew the night before and stayed at the Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport using a 1-4 category award from the Hyatt World Credit Card. The next morning, we picked up the car from Silvercar (car seat included!) and took an easy walk to the port.
There are several ways to get from MCO to Port Canaveral, including a bus operated by Disney Cruise Line ($78 per person, round-trip), but we opted for a rental car and port parking with four people and multiple schedules if the ship arrives in Florida. $68 for a three-night stay in the harbor parking garage, or $88 in an adjacent lot. There are cheaper options for parking lots, or you can hire a door-to-door car service for less than the bus.
Disney Cruise Line Cancels U.s. Sailings Through June
When we landed at the port, there were several people to help us with our bags (with tags that Disney Cruise Line had pre-sent). You should pack a day bag with your afternoon essentials, as your bulky bags will show up in your stateroom a few hours after you drop them off at the port.
When we filled out the online form correctly we had 1h15 to get to the port we were given, but the check-in seemed to be open for about 1h.
Check-in for this vessel is 11:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Until, it’s the first time Disney’s top passengers and patrons go, many want as many minutes on board as possible. To get going, we cleared airport security, checked in with Disney, received our key to the world map we used onboard, and finally boarded the ship.
Disney Dream Fact Sheet
We were able to take a photo with Mickey just before boarding, even though the letters seemed to be arriving at the terminal.
Once we went through the official check-in process at Port Canaveral, the rest was easy. (Honestly, everything was easy.) When we boarded the ship, we were greeted by name and cheered as we went on vacation. Every family is really happy to host!
Once on the ship there was nothing else to do, so we headed straight to the Animator Palace for dinner, although we could have gone to our rooms from 1:30pm as soon as we boarded the ship.
