Monthly Handprint Art – The following post is a sponsored chat I wrote on behalf of Horizon Organic. All thoughts, opinions and baby helpers are my own.

Children are creative, curious creatures who always want to be involved in things. This is no different when it comes to the holidays. They want to help decorate the tree or the house, they want to help pick presents, hang stockings, make cookies.

It always means so much to receive one of their creations from school. The look of pride on their faces after working hard on a project or craft, and the huge toothy grin when they present me with what they’ve done, I want to lose that feeling forever. This holiday season, I need it – I want my kids to be more involved in giving, not just a gift, but a gift. More than they usually are. They usually start and end with a secret trip to the store one-on-one to shop for their siblings. But this year I want to CREATE them more than buy. I want to focus more on their creativity and less on material things.

This year, while we’re happily munching on the delicious Horizon egg while baking gingerbread cookies, we’ll be giving gifts to others. AND I CAN’T WAIT IN FIRST! Here’s a first – personalized handprint calendars. I can’t believe how amazing these turned out!

Get your individual papers ready to go, get out your paint, set out the brushes and put everyone’s sleeves up with smocks, tie back and start painting!!

For January – snowmen! My absolute favorite! Use white paint on blue paper and markers for the decorations, and be sure to use a fine sharpener for their faces.

Fireworks Handprint Art For July 4th Usa Independence Day

For February – hearts of course! Using red paint, turn the paper upside down and point your fingers together. You can make smaller hearts with individual fingerprints too!

For March – four leaf clover! Break out the green color for this hand print and face all the fingers to make the clover of each leaf. Smaller cloves can be made with fingerprints and a brush for the stem.

Monthly Handprint Art

For April – the world! I love how symbolic this one is, with the whole world as a hand! You can choose to make one hand (as we did) or a whole bunch of hands to make a circle, your choice! Use blue color and click green to land on the palm!

For the month of May – hand flowers! Choose two colors for your handprint flowers here, and don’t forget to use a green marker for the stem and leaves!

Monthly Handprint Art

For June – fish! The glitters here add a nice touch to make it look scaly! Draw in bubbles if you like, or use the blunt tip on your fingers with blue or silver glitter on top for bubbles!

For July – fireworks! Use the handprints to form fireworks with red and green paint, then have them apply Elmer’s glue with a brush (or Drizzle, if they have a steady hand) and sprinkle with sparkles!

Handprint Art Books

For August – beautiful bright sun! Use yellow color and place the palms in the center with the fingers as the rays of the sun. You can draw clouds with a marker if you want.

For September – crayons (for back to school)! Using a brush, paint a different color on each finger, with the middle of the hand yellow and the thumb and edge of the palm green. Look how well it turned out!

Monthly Handprint Art

For October – the handprint ghosts! Using black construction paper, use white paint for the ghosts, face down and sharpen for the faces after it dries.

Handprint Art Books

For November – turkey! Paint the fingers the same way you did the crayons, each a different color and the thumb and palm brown. Use a marker for the decorations when they are dry.

Monthly Handprint Art

For the month of December – pure light and holidays! For this one, draw your holiday light lines first, so you know where to put each thumb for the bulbs. Then use the brown color for the handprint for the reindeer and finish with a marker for the decorations when they are dry.

When all these hand printed calendar pages are dry, glue them to the back of the previous month’s printable calendar page, but make sure the calendar page is upside down. For January, it will be attached to the upside down cover. As for the December calendar page, it won’t be stuck on the back of anything. You can design your own calendar pages or find some on the web, like this one.
