One of the easiest ways to use ornament templates is to let your kids color them in. Grab crayons, crayons or markers and let the kids decorate the ornaments themselves. They can draw pictures or color them as they see fit.
Another simple way to decorate paper ornaments is paint. Watercolor paints are an excellent choice for young children. Or use acrylic or French paint for a more vibrant design. Once the children have finished painting the ornaments, let them dry and hang them on the tree.
It is impossible to create Christmas decorations without adding a bit of glitter! To keep the glitter from getting dirty, try placing your children’s models in a box. Let them decorate the tinsel with glue and sprinkle glitter on top. When you’re done decorating, wipe off any excess glitter and place the embellishments out of reach until the glue dries.

If you don’t want to deal with glitter, try adding some sparkle to your embellishments with sequins and gemstones. Once young crafters have colored their embellishments, they can use glue to attach sparkly sequins and gems to the paper.
Colorful pompoms are a great way to decorate paper ornaments. Use different colors to give your craft a unique look, or stick with red and green for a traditional festive look. You can even make your own pom poms with this fun and easy method.
Once you’ve decided how to decorate your ornaments, all that’s left to do is hang the ornaments on the Christmas tree! Thread a piece of ribbon or string through the hole and tie a knot to secure the ornament to the string. Then you can hang the decoration on the branch of your tree.
Before you hang your child’s ornament on the Christmas tree, take a moment to write the name and date on the back. By placing the ornament on the tree year after year, you can look at it and remember who made it and when.
If your child just painted or painted ornaments, you can easily laminate the design so that it hangs on the tree year after year. Use a laminator to seal the ornament, then cut out the shape with sharp scissors.
