Lung Assessment “Do you have asthma or breathing problems? Lung disease? Do you smoke?” Assessment of signs of distress during breathing ie. excessive use of accessory muscles during inhalation. TACTILE FREMETIS – The pinky side of the hands is placed lateral to the trachea, then the clavicle, then under the axilla on the ribs while the patient says 99 for each location. Feel the vibration of falling intensity as you move down. (if strong vibration is felt = pleural effusion, pneumonia)
