Crochet flower appliqués are perfect for crochet if you want to use up all the leftover yarn and they can be done with any weight of yarn so all you have to do is grab your yarn and a suitable hook and follow this easy crochet pattern!
I made my crochet flower appliqués with cotton thread but as I said above you can use any thread in any color, this is great for sewing on bags or hats or you can make hair bands, hair clips or brooches, the list goes on endless and they are very quick to do.
For this project I used Rico Creative Cotton Aran which is a dream to work with, it comes in a variety of fresh, vibrant and modern colours. You will need 80 yards to crochet one of these flowers using the same yarn for this project.
Array Of Color
It is very easy to replace this yarn all you have to do is find 100% cotton and felt or worsted weight yarn. As I said before, you can only use scrap thread.
Below you will find a completely ad free crochet pattern, but I also wanted to offer a nicely formatted ad free PDF version because I know many of you love to crochet in the car, at the beach, outside. Cafe and many other places. This way you can print the PDF version and put it in your bag and keep it wherever you are without worrying if you can access it in online format.

After writing the “Hand Applique Using Blanket Stitch” tutorial, I thought you might like flower appliqué for sewing practice. The simple 5 and 6 petal flower applique template is one of my favorites and I used the software to draw the shapes. I have uploaded it to my Google Drive and you can save the template to your computer. To save paper, just print pages and templates. The template comes in one size only. This size I give you is just right for the applique – about 4″. If you want to print the template in a different size, remember to open it with Adobe Reader which allows you to print in a specific % size. The tutorial shows how to print the template using Adobe Reader version XI Shows to change the size.
I went into my archives and dug out some zipper pouches I made using blanket stitch in floral appliqué. It was made a few years ago!
These two are similar – the central motif is tied to the background fabric. Then a flower applique with a hole in the middle is placed on top and attached to the background fabric.
Flower And Leaf Template
I used a seed stitch to fill in the middle. If you’re wondering what the seed stitch is, it’s a really straight stitch that is randomly placed to fill the space. The key thing to remember for the seed stitch is to use different measurements of stitch length when sewing in different directions.
I sewed a circle on top of the center of the flower. Yes, of course I had a small circle of flowers.
My flower applique template can also be used as a pattern for a brooch. If you print the template at 70%, this should give you a nice shape for the brooch. (slightly larger than 2.5″) Below are some felt brooches I have made in the past. When I made this brooch, I roughly cut out the shape by folding the felt in half and using a pen to trace the shape onto the felt. It looks quite uneven. Well, since you have the template you don’t have to cut anything. I hope this brooch inspires you. The applique press sheet makes it easy to make layered and intricate applique. The first piece is stitched together, then ironed to the final fabric. Use the instructions to learn the technique , or Use my free floral instructions and patterns to create beautiful flower vases.

Step 1: The fusible web is ironed onto the wrong side of the fabric. Then, the applique piece is cut from the fabric that is now attached to the adhesive (fusible tissue). The paper covering is removed from all applique pieces.
Step Two: Arrange the pieces on the applique press sheet. The applique press sheet is transparent, so the pattern appears. The iron is used to join the applique pieces together.
Simply peel your new, multi-piece applique from the applique sheet and iron it onto your project. Elaborate, multi-piece, layered appliqué made easy.

Applique can now be bonded (press with an iron) to card stock, fabric, shirts and other surfaces suitable for adhesive that can be bonded (fusible web).
For this project, I provided a free flower pattern. This will create a beautiful, multi-layered flower pot. I started to make a multi-piece, layered flower applique, and then joined it to the flower pot block I had prepared.
Fabric scraps for flowers, leaves and vases. I used two different floral prints, two green prints for the grass/stem and a dark green print for the leaves. If you want, you can use small, medium and large floral print. The main thing is to have flowers of different shapes and sizes. Use what feels good to your eyes. Try to choose prints with full flowers to cut. I added a butterfly, which provides good detail. You can add bugs, cutting, grass around the base, etc. Use your own design. Free speed tillage creates better grass. Go to: Free Motion Machine Embroidery Lessons.

Pre-wash all clothes. Do not use fabric softener. Washing will remove any size, allowing for a stronger bond.
This is a special type of sheet used to create a complete application. This pattern is placed on the surface of the work. The press sheet is placed above
